Terms of Service
Last updated October 7, 2026
1. Agreement to These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Sacred Anthology LLC, a Texas company ("Sacred Anthology," "we," "us," or "our"). They govern your use of the Sacred Anthology website, library, study tools, accounts, and memberships (the "Service").
By using the Service, creating an account, or buying a membership, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Please read section 29 carefully. It requires most disputes to be resolved by individual arbitration instead of in court, and waives class actions, unless you opt out within 30 days.
2. The Service
Sacred Anthology is a digital library of religious and philosophical texts for reading, searching, comparing, and study. It includes:
- Texts from several religious traditions, with search across the library
- Saved passages and a record of your recent reading and searches
- AI-assisted features: Explain, Ask the Library, and Cross-Reference & Compare
- A daily verse email you can turn on or off
- A 24-hour free trial and paid memberships
The Service is intended for users in the United States.
3. Educational Purpose; No Religious or Professional Advice
Sacred Anthology is provided for reading, education, research, and personal study. It is not a religious institution, denomination, or authority, and it does not represent any religious tradition. It does not tell you what to believe.
Nothing in the Service is religious or spiritual counseling, an official interpretation of any text, or legal, medical, mental-health, financial, or other professional advice. Please consult qualified scholars, clergy, or professionals where that matters to you.
4. The Texts in the Library
The texts come from public-domain editions and editions published under open licenses. Each tradition notes the translator or source where one is recorded. We do not claim ownership of public-domain texts or of openly licensed texts; their original rights holders keep their rights, and their license terms continue to apply.
We work to keep each text faithful to its source, but digitizing, formatting, and indexing can introduce errors, and editions and translations differ. We do not guarantee that any passage is complete, error-free, or identical to a printed edition. For scholarly, legal, or other important uses, check the printed or archival source.
5. AI Features
Some features use artificial intelligence to explain passages, answer questions from the library, and compare how traditions treat a topic. AI-generated answers are produced automatically and may be wrong, incomplete, or misleading. They may misstate a tradition's teachings or cite passages incorrectly. They are not authoritative interpretations of any religion.
Answers are based on the passages provided to the AI and the wording of your question, so different questions can give different answers. Each answer lists the passages it drew on; please read them yourself rather than relying only on the AI's summary. Written answers are subject to a daily limit, shown in the Service.
6. Accounts
You need an account to save passages, use the AI features, start a free trial, or buy a membership. You can sign up with an email and password, or with Google or Apple. By creating an account, you confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years old;
- The information you give us is accurate, and you will keep your email address current; and
- You will keep your password private and not share your account.
You are responsible for activity on your account, except where it results from our failure to use reasonable security. Tell us promptly at infosacredanthology@gmail.com if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission.
7. Free Trial
New accounts may receive a free trial of the full library and member features, lasting 24 hours from when it starts. The trial is free and does not require a payment method. When it ends, you will not be charged and will not be signed up for a membership automatically. To keep full access, you must choose and buy a membership.
We may limit trials to one per person and may end or refuse a trial in cases of fraud, abuse, or duplicate accounts. We may also grant complimentary memberships at our discretion; these are never billed.
8. Memberships and Prices
We offer paid memberships billed:
- Monthly
- Every six months
- Yearly
The current price of each plan, and any taxes, are shown before you buy. The six-month and yearly plans cost less per month than the monthly plan. By buying a membership, you authorize our payment provider to charge your payment method the price shown, and to charge it again at each renewal as described in section 9.
9. Automatic Renewal
Your membership renews automatically at the end of each billing period — every month, six months, or year, depending on your plan — and your payment method is charged the then-current price for that plan, until you cancel.
We will email you a confirmation when you subscribe that states your plan, price, renewal period, and how to cancel. For yearly plans, we will email you a reminder before each renewal. You can cancel at any time as described in section 10.
10. Cancelling Your Membership
You can cancel at any time:
- In the Service: go to your Membership or Account page and select Cancel membership; or
- By email: write to infosacredanthology@gmail.com from the email address on your account.
Cancelling stops all future renewals and charges. Your membership stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, then ends. To avoid being charged for the next period, cancel before your renewal date. Cancelling a membership does not delete your account; you can delete it separately from your Account page.
11. Refunds
Membership payments are non-refundable, including for partly used periods, except where the law requires a refund or where we choose to give one. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at infosacredanthology@gmail.com and we will look into it. Nothing in these Terms limits any refund right you have under applicable law.
12. Failed Payments
If a renewal payment fails, is reversed, or is charged back, we or our payment provider may retry the charge, and we may suspend member features until the payment succeeds. You remain responsible for amounts lawfully owed.
13. Payment Processing
Payments are processed by Base44 Payments, powered by Wix Payments, on its own checkout page. Your full card number goes to the payment provider and never reaches us. The payment provider's own terms and privacy policy apply to the payment itself. We receive the information needed to manage your membership, such as your email, plan, amount, payment status, and renewal dates.
14. Price Changes
We may change membership prices. If a price change affects your membership, we will email you before it takes effect, and at least as early as the law requires. The new price applies from your first renewal after the notice period. If you do not want to pay the new price, you can cancel before that renewal.
15. Changes to the Service
We may add, change, or remove texts, features, and plans, and we may pause the Service for maintenance or security. If we stop offering a paid membership altogether, we will stop charging for it and, where the law requires, refund any prepaid period you could not use.
16. How You May Use the Service
You may use the Service for lawful personal reading, study, education, and research. You may quote passages and share what you learn, provided you respect the rights of others and any license terms that apply to a text.
17. What You May Not Do
You may not:
- Break any law or infringe anyone's rights;
- Get around the free trial limits, membership, daily limits, or other access controls, including by creating multiple accounts;
- Copy, scrape, or download substantial parts of the library or its database, by automated means or otherwise, or use them in another product or service;
- Resell, share, or rent access to your account or the Service;
- Try to access accounts, systems, or data that are not yours;
- Upload malicious code, or overload, probe, or attack the Service;
- Use the AI features to create unlawful, abusive, hateful, or fraudulent content, or to attack any religion or its followers;
- Reverse engineer the Service, except where the law allows;
- Impersonate Sacred Anthology or anyone else, or use the contact form to harass us or others; or
- Help anyone else do any of these things.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
18. Your Content and Saved Information
Your saved passages, recent activity, the questions you type, and the messages you send us are private to your account and are not shown to other users. We cannot guarantee privacy against events outside our reasonable control, such as a security breach at a provider.
You keep whatever rights you have in the questions and messages you write. You give us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, and transmit them only as needed to run the Service, provide the features you use (including sending them to our AI service), keep the Service secure, and comply with the law. This license ends when the content is deleted, except for copies we must keep by law.
19. Our Intellectual Property
Apart from public-domain and openly licensed texts, which belong to their rights holders, the Service — including its design, software, organization of the library, original descriptions and writing, and the Sacred Anthology name and logo — belongs to us or our licensors. You may not copy or reuse these except as these Terms allow. You may not use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse or are affiliated with you.
20. Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely without paying you or giving credit.
21. Copyright Concerns
If you believe material in the Service infringes your copyright, email infosacredanthology@gmail.com with: your contact details; the work you believe is infringed; where the material appears in the Service; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized; and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorized to act for them. We will review it and may remove or restrict the material.
22. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on others, including Base44 (hosting, sign-in, and AI), Wix Payments, Google, and Apple. Their own terms apply to your use of their services. We are not responsible for their outages, changes, or practices, except where the law does not allow us to exclude that responsibility.
23. Availability
We work to keep the Service running, but we do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that every text or search result is complete and correct, or that AI answers are accurate. Saved passages may occasionally be lost through technical failure; keep your own copy of anything that matters to you.
24. Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THESE EXCLUSIONS, SO THEY MAY NOT ALL APPLY TO YOU.
25. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SACRED ANTHOLOGY AND ITS OWNERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) $100. THESE LIMITS DO NOT APPLY WHERE THE LAW DOES NOT ALLOW THEM, INCLUDING FOR LIABILITY THAT CANNOT LEGALLY BE LIMITED.
26. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify Sacred Anthology and its owners, officers, employees, and contractors against claims, losses, and reasonable legal fees arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.
27. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or close your account if you break these Terms, fail to pay, act fraudulently or abusively, or create a legal or security risk. Where reasonable, we will give you notice first. If we close your account for reasons other than your breach, we will refund any unused prepaid membership time. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should continue (including 18–30) survive termination.
28. Informal Dispute Resolution
Before starting an arbitration or court case, you and we each agree to try to resolve the dispute informally. The party with the dispute must send a written notice describing it and the relief sought — to us at infosacredanthology@gmail.com, or to you at the email on your account. If it is not resolved within 30 days, either party may begin arbitration or small-claims proceedings.
29. Binding Individual Arbitration and Class-Action Waiver
Arbitration. Except as stated below, any dispute arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. The arbitration may be held by video, by phone, or in the county where you live. Fees are paid as the AAA Consumer Rules provide; for claims under $10,000, we will pay your share of the AAA filing and arbitrator fees unless the arbitrator finds your claim frivolous. The arbitrator may award the same individual relief a court could.
Exceptions. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either party may ask a court to stop infringement of intellectual property.
No class actions. Disputes will be resolved only on an individual basis. Neither you nor we may bring or take part in a class, collective, or representative action, and the arbitrator may not combine the claims of different people. If this class-action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim must go to court instead of arbitration.
Opting out. You may opt out of this section 29 by emailing infosacredanthology@gmail.com within 30 days after you first agree to these Terms. Include your name, the email on your account, and a clear statement that you are opting out of arbitration. Opting out does not affect the rest of these Terms.
Changes. If we change this section 29, the change will not apply to disputes we already know about, and you may reject it by emailing us within 30 days of the change.
30. Governing Law and Courts
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and the Federal Arbitration Act, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any case that is not arbitrated will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Texas, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it there. Nothing in these Terms removes consumer protections that the law of your state does not allow to be waived.
31. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. We will post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects your rights or your paid membership, we will tell you by email or in the Service at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after the change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms; if you do not agree, you may cancel and delete your account.
32. Severability
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be enforced to the extent allowed and the rest will remain in effect.
33. No Waiver
If we do not enforce a part of these Terms, that does not waive our right to enforce it later.
34. Assignment
You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, and these Terms will continue to bind the new owner.
35. Entire Agreement
These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service and replace any earlier versions.
